With over 15 years of experience building conservation programs and leading high-performing teams, Nina Bhattacharyya brings a proven ability to turn strategic vision into measurable impact. Her work spans land and water protection, sustainable agriculture, and resilient food systems, aligning with science-based, innovative solutions for a changing world.
She holds a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University, with a focus on water resource science and management. Her background combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership to solve complex environmental challenges at the local, state, and national levels.
At the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production, she helped launch the office and led flagship programs, building partnerships, advancing outreach, and revitalizing the USDA People’s Garden. Under her leadership, the program expanded into a nationwide network, earning the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Honors Award.
Previously, Nina served as the Partnerships & Initiatives Program Manager for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Florida, where she developed and led major initiatives to protect key landscapes, including the Florida Everglades, Florida Wildlife Corridor, Freshwater Springs, and Gulf Coast. She managed multi-million dollar programs that promoted conservation practices, safeguarded water resources, and leveraged significant partner funding, including the Regional Conservation Partnership Program and Agricultural Land Easements.
Throughout her career, Nina has worked at the intersection of science, policy, and practice, turning technical knowledge into practical solutions. She is passionate about advancing conservation outcomes and is committed to supporting landowners, communities, and organizations in stewarding natural resources for future generations.
